Warnings

  • Weight Limit: Do not exceed 90 lbs (40.8 kg) on the desktop surface when unfolded. Do not sit or stand on the desk.

  • Electrical Safety: The desk includes a 120V power outlet. Do not exceed 1200W total electrical load.

  • Child Safety: Do not allow children to play on or around the desk. Heavy-duty magnets keep it closed, but improper use may cause injury.

  • Installation: Must be mounted by two able-bodied people into at least two studs or, into at least one stud as well as into the drywall with two provided GeeFix Anchors. It can also be mounted into brick or concrete using provided anchors. Failure to mount properly could result in injury or damage.

Installation

Step 1: Determine Mounting Height

  1. The Hanging Bracket should be mounted at the eye level of the tallest desk user in the household. (this allows people of different heights to use the desk).

  2. Mark this height on the wall using a pencil.

Step 2: Locate and Mark Studs

  1. Mark the wall at the center of at least one stud within the mounting area at eye level.

  2. If only one stud is found, GeeFix Anchors (Part 3) must be used in the drywall for additional support (see step 3.8)

Step 3: Attach the Hanging Bracket

  1. Hold the Hanging Bracket (part 8) against the wall at the marked eye-level height.

  2. Align one of the larger Hanging Bracket holes with the center-marked stud, and then mark one more hole for your lag bolt pilot hole.

  3. Pre-drill a pilot hole into the center of the first stud using the 5/32" drill bit.

  4. Insert and partially tighten the first lag bolt using the lag bolt wrench.

    1. This should not be easy to tighten!

    2. If it’s easy to tighten, then that means you are not in a stud!!! - So repeat Step 2 until you find a stud.

  5. Pivot the Hanging Bracket to level it using a spirit level or a level app on your phone.

  6. Once level, mark the pilot hole location for the second lag bolt.

  7. Drill the second pilot hole into the second stud’s center mark using the 5/32" drill bit, then insert and tighten the second lag bolt.

  8. If only one stud is available, install GeeFix Anchors in the drywall per the instructions here.

  9. Tighten all fasteners securely. The lag bolts should be flush with the Hanging Bracket.

  10. Double-check that the Hanging Bracket is level using a spirit level or level app on your phone.

Step 4: ⚠️  Mount the Desk ⚠️

  1. With assistance from an able-bodied person, lift The Murf onto the mounted Hanging Bracket. Once it’s up and over the Hanging Bracket, do not walk away or take off upward pressure - this could result in the desk falling if it’s not correctly seated in the Hanging Bracket. Instead, with one hand still lifting the desk from below, use your other hand to push the desk down to ensure it’s seated in the Hanging Bracket.

  2. Slowly remove your hand that had upward pressure from the bottom of the desk, and walk away from the desk.

  3. Ensure visually that it is securely seated.

  4. Check alignment and use a spirit level or phone level app to confirm the desk is straight.

Step 5: Secure the Desk

  1. Slowly open the desk and look underneath - you will see small holes in the backboard against the wall for your 2” Security Screws (Part 6).

    1. These make sure the desk does not pop up off the wall.

  2. Take the 5/32” drill bit and make at least 2 pilot holes in the center of the small circles

  3. Take the Small Drywall Anchors (Part 5) and screw them gently into the pilot holes.

    1. If they are not going in, it’s likely because there is a stud back behind the hole

      1. You can skip the drywall anchor in this case and skip to the next part of this step for this hole

      2. Try a different “Security Screw Hole”

      3. You need at least 2 “Security Screws” for the desk to be safe

  4. Now take your Security Screw Washers (Part 7), slide them onto your 2” Security Screws (Part 6), and screw them tightly through the wood security screw slots into the previously installed Small Drywall Anchors (Part 5)

  5. Now your desk should not be able to move up and off of the Hanging Bracket.

  6. Double-check all fasteners before use.

Using the Height Adjustment Control

  1. Plug your desk into a power outlet using the provided power cable.

  2. Remove the remote dial from its white box and place it on the desktop surface.

    1. Push down and swiftly twist counter-clockwise while pushing down.

    2. The desk should begin lowering.

    3. Press at any point to stop motion.

    4. Press down and twist clockwise to raise the desk

    5. Note: you do not need to continue pressing the button once the desk is in motion - simply press it again to stop the desk motion.

  3. Setting the 2 height memory positions

    1. When you’ve reached a height that you want to save as “standing” press the button and hold it down until you hear/feel 1 buzz (this means it’s saved position 1).

    2. To save your “sitting position” lower the desk to your preferred sitting height (using step 2 in this section). Now quickly double-click and hold the button until you hear/feel a double buzz (this means you’ve saved position 2)

  4. Moving to your saved positions.

    1. To move to position 1

      • Double click button and while holding it down on the second click, twist clockwise.

    2. To move to position 2

      • Double click button and while holding it down on the second click, twist counter-clockwise.

Final Checks

  1. Verify power connectivity and ensure outlets are functional.
  2. Test the sit-stand mechanism using the remote dial.
  3. Check that the magnets hold the desk securely when closed.
