The Murf uses a 300lbs-capacity (136kg) french cleat system that is designed to be mounted into the studs of drywall or directly into brick/concrete. For drywall installation, it must be mounted to at least 2 studs using the provided lag bolts, ensuring a secure and stable setup.

The Murf desk features a high-quality “lifting column” from a leading linear technology company. This mechanism offers smooth height adjustment with an 18-inch stroke length, facilitating easy transitions between sitting and standing positions. For durability, the desk's electric actuator was subjected to rigorous testing, cycling it through 20,000 height adjustments to ensure long-term reliability.

The desk is equipped with "anti-collision sensors" designed to automatically stop the motor upon impact. Please note, this sensor activates only upon direct contact or a sudden bump. If an object is gradually crushed beneath the desk, the actuator will not stop. The sensor's primary purpose is to minimize the risk of bodily harm, not to prevent all forms of property damage.

For example, if a chair is placed under the desk and it's lowered onto the chair, the desk might not stop its downward motion. However, should someone hit the desk with enough force (e.g., a moderate slap), the actuator will halt immediately.

The desk is crafted from finished Baltic Birch plywood. This finish not only enhances the aesthetic but also prevents rings from condensation, making it practical for everyday use. That said, coasters don't hurt. Additionally, the edges are covered with indoor-safe shellac for a smooth, durable finish.

Yes, there's a power outlet mounted on the side of The Murf's interior cubby which includes USB-C, normal USB, and a standard United States power plug outlet all in one, providing convenient access for charging and powering devices. The standard wall outlet voltage in the US is 120V, ensuring compatibility with most common electronic devices.

Yes, The Murf features a removable 5ft-long (1.52 meters) power cord that plugs into the bottom of the desk, allowing for a clean look when it's not in use or during transportation, enhancing its aesthetic appeal and ease of movement.

While the cleat is rated for 300lbs (136kg), the desktop itself can only support up to 90lbs (40.8kg).

You can lean on The Murf, but we recommend that you should not sit on it or place heavy objects on it to avoid damaging the desk. For added stability, we designed custom safety hooks (see image below), similar to those found in dishwashers, that provide extra support in addition to the dropdown stays and the fold-under design.

Installation of The Murf typically takes about 0.5-1 hour, depending on your familiarity with DIY projects. We provide detailed instructions to make the process as smooth as possible. A stud-finder and a power drill or impact driver are necessary for installation.
